Attempt at Timp
Here are the basics of our midnight escapade.
Been wanting to climb Timp again, since the last adventure was about 9 years ago (babysitting for more than 3-hour block is very hard to come by in our neck of the woods, so Rod volunteered to stay home).
Organization of Team Midnight ensues and we get to the trail head about 1am: Carrie, Grant, Taylor, Cooper, Jess, Tom, Tom's roommate, Me.
We get high on very steep terrain. We lose the trail every other 200 feet over steep sheets of ice. No cramp-ons, no ice-picks--only the random sticks we find to make up for our slick-bottomed tennis shoes. We keeping
Finally, we reach a point where we can go no further and start the trek back. Mission: failed.
But of course, the morning sunset views across the mountain make the harrowing trip up worth the experience.
Rod went up a month after, and of course was able to reach the top...
I guess there's always next year!
