How could I forget to mention the hero of the weekend? Rod may not come up with or suggest the brilliant idea of giving me 24 hours alone to do my thing without interruption, but he always graciously accepts my selfish plea. His parents are in Italy for Spring Study Abroad, and so it happened to conveniently work out for him to take the kids to the house he grew up in without forcing his parents upon my plan of attack. Also, I don't believe in leaving babies with teen-sitters, so it was a miracle to get a night deciding on which sushi roll to order next without Flora squealing for attention, thanks to Carrie & Grant. You guys rock!
A few other things:
I picked up a couple of awesome bikes for the boys on KSL for $10 (You only have to make the mistake of buying a brand new bike once...ripoff!) because I ran over Milo's (yes, after his first one got stolen...it was only $10 bucks though too) and Elliot didn't have one yet, but was showing some promising interest & skill. Rod packed them up and in less than 24 hours Elliot learned to ride his bike without training wheels! Rod is so amazing with patience for that type of thing, and the boys have so much trust in him. I was pretty impressed with the results.
Speaking of milestone firsts, Flora is officially crawling (not really efficient yet though). She was so adorable on Sunday, just snuggling with me and flirting with anyone who dared to smile at her. I love this girl a little too much, it's scary.
Not a one of us siblings had a mother near by, so we all got together in Orem and made ourselves a colorful celebratory dinner instead. I think our mother's would have been impressed, but sad they weren't here to enjoy it like we did!
Did I mention we got a bunny? His name is Isaac (Milo named him) and we are in love. He doesn't seem to mind the chickens, even though Harriet tries to peck his eyes out. It's all good. And that tail?!
Ever tried Costco's turkey burger? Not usually a huge fan of meat over here, but add a little swiss cheese, homemade buns, and mushroom/cucumber/sweet pepper chutney and you've got yourself a tasty meal baby!
Speaking of food, I think I went all of 2009 without using a sinlge talk of my rhubarb. With 6 larger-than-life bushes using up precious spring soil space, you'd think I'd have perfected some recipes by now. But no. I did venture to make a few blueberry rhubarb pies this last week though
using Martha's crust, and it was enough to get me going on the stuff. Yum. Do you have anything with rhubarb you love to make?

May is to lilacs as Aril is to tulips. I have been swooning over the flowery scents in my yard lately. Apple blossoms are my favorite fruit blossom: large, delicate and lovely--which just so happen to be our local bumble bee's as well. Spring is so magical, no?
After collecting enough $1/yard fabric to fill my spare closets to bursting, I'd say it's time to start putting all of it to good use (or at least Rod thinks so...I'm driving that man batty with the space I need for my hobbies). I figured an easy mother's day top would do the trick. Using a combo of my own thing and
these two easy tutorials (Who ever needs to buy patterns anymore! Can you say FREEBIES?!), it was the first time I've tried single fold bias tape (also laying around from a D. I. purchase) . So easy, and so useful! Oh the possibilities!
P.S. Showing pictures on here of my room sort of gives me the creeps...too private, ya know? But I promise I will post some when I feel it is all "done". Ok? It's turning out... well, interesting.
